George Marley got the team off to a great start with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Matt Waterton. Then came the ‘match of the day’ and longest by ten mins as teenager Zef Counter battled out a nail biting 3-2 win over vastly improved Ben Warren. Elliott won the day with a thrilling 3-2 against Mike Morgan in a very entertaining encounter. Rory Brickell was just too clever for Newquay’s no 1 Matt Harford. The shoreline read 3-0 as some predicted. Lastly, a long awaited, Tim Smith took on last year’s CCS&RA’s Player of the Year Mark Howarth. Sadly Tim had to withdraw realising his hip injury was more serious than expected. A sensible choice given his livelihood and aspirations in a month’s time at the British Open Masters in London.
